NOMOTC - Oct. 2011 Multiple
Messages |
A
Special Message from NOMOTC:
Fall
has officially arrived. Along with the leaves changing their
colors, you already received the exciting news of the changes
on the NOMOTC Board of Directors.
Kim
Ozark was appointed NOMOTC's new Executive Vice President and
recently Pam Edelman has been appointed as the Research Vice
President. We are currently in the process of filling the
position of the Research Chairman and will announce to the
membership very soon.
We
are sorry for the delay of this issue of Multiple Messages
during this transition. We will be getting back on schedule in
November. Thank you for your patience during this
time.
Enjoy
this beautiful season of changing colors and weather,
especially for those in the northern parts of our country.

President's
Message
FALL
IS HERE!
The weather is changing and
you can tell fall is here! It is time
to pull out the sweaters and
coats. Local clubs have begun to meet
again and start their new activities. The
Executive Office is busy processing dues renewals
from clubs across the country and answering
questions from local clubs. The Membership
Department is providing support and assistance to
the clubs. Surveys are being tallied and results
interpreted into reports by the Research
Department. The Education Department is
finalizing the fall issue of NOMOTC's
Notebook and is headed to the press,
ready to reach your mailbox during the month of
October. The Secretary is compiling the minutes of
the 2011 convention meetings for historical filing
and the Treasurer is closing out last year's
financial records. Our website is being
updated by the Publicity Department and the new
Multiple Birth Awareness materials will be
available soon. Please check out all of the new
items in the Members Only section of NOMOTC's
website.
If
you haven't sent in your dues, now's the time to
act to ensure members don't miss future issues of
NOMOTC's Notebook and member club
services support.
If
you have an idea, suggestion, or a question,
please feel free to contact me at President@nomotc.org.
Happy
fall to all!
Pam

ADVERTISING
WITH NOMOTC
Do
you have a unique multiple-related product or
service you would like to share with other parents
of multiples? What better way to get the word out
than to advertise in one of NOMOTC's club
mailings, in the annual publication Your
Multiples and You(for new and expectant parents of
multiples), in the quarterly news magazine,
NOMOTC' Notebook, written by
parents of multiples, or on the NOMOTC
website!
We
offer your club or business exposure to over
26,000 members nationwide, all of whom have
multiples. With costs lower than most other
publications, advertising with NOMOTC can be a
valuable tool to promoting your
products!
Please
contact the Executive Office or the Education Vice President for more
information and an advertising brochure
today!
Do
you know of a multiple-related product or service
that others should be aware of? Please share that
as well! We are always looking for new and
exciting advertising partners!
WE
WANT YOU! And your photos!
Please
submit any photos you have of your multiples ...
ALL ages welcomed ... that would pertain to any of
the topics listed in the NOMOTC's
Notebook themes or in anything you
would love to share. Do you have a photo of your
teens studying? That's a rarity; we would LOVE to
have that photo! Do you have a photo of your adult
multiples sharing a moment ... maybe in the family
football game, or playing with their own kids on
the floor? Whatever the event, whatever the shot
... the Education Department would love to have
them! Please send your photo to the Education Chairman. Please do not
forget to submit the Photo Submission Agreement as
well! You may find this online under the Education
Department tab on the NOMOTC website. We look
forward to seeing all those great photos
soon!
Attention Club
Editors:
Please
do not forget to send your newsletters to your
District Reporter! Who knows, you may just see
your club's events shared in a future issue of the

PUBLICITY
DEPARTMENT
The
Publicity Department is the department that is
always under construction. Fixing this, updating
that; planning and developing events and
publicizing NOMOTC. One area that we are
constantly working hard to update and maintain is
our NOMOTC website. Please take some time to visit
the website especially the Members Only section
and see all that NOMOTC has to offer.
We are
also hard at work planning the 4th Annual
Multiple Birth Awareness Family Festival that will
take place in April 2012. Look in upcoming issues
of Multiple Messages and on our website for all
the information regarding Multiple Birth Awareness
Month and the Family
Festival.

RESEARCH
DEPARTMENT
by
Kim Ozark, Research Vice
President
Looking
for things to do as the weather gets cooler? How
about filling out one of our surveys? It
only takes a few minutes to complete a survey by
filling it out on SurveyMonkey.com (or you can
download the .pdf of the survey, fill it out, and
mail it to the Executive Office). Please encourage
your club members to do so, as well!
The
purpose of this survey is to examine the effect of
multiple birth children on
marital relationships including causes of
marital stress and strategies to promote a
healthy relationship in response to
identified stressors. Most can relate to this. We
want to hear from you!
This
survey is to be filled out by anyone who is
currently or has been married with
multiple birth children as a part of the
family unit. You do not have to be a member of
NOMOTC to fill out this survey. It is open to
all.
The
purpose of this survey is to gather information on
how families with multiple birth children use
technology; introduce technology, school use,
social networking, video games, communication and
common issues that families face with
technology.
- NOMOTC
wants to hear from you. Whether it is praise for
NOMOTC's Notebook or
constructive criticism, we need to hear from
YOU! Follow the link to NOMOTC's Notebook Readership
Survey! (It will be helpful to have a
NOMOTC's Notebook with you
when you fill out this survey.) Fill it
out and then let your club members know that you
participated in our survey and encourage them to
do the same. Everyone who is a member can fill
out this survey!
- Calling
all Club Presidents and National Reps! We need
your input! Don't
forget to fill out the NOMOTC Membership Survey.
We would like to have 100 percent of the
member clubs of NOMOTC fill this out. This is
the perfect opportunity to voice
your opinions and let us
know how we can improve. The Membership
Survey can be found in the Members Only section
of NOMOTC's website.
- Be
a part of one of our approved Outside Researcher Studies!
Follow the link for a listing of studies
available. If you or your multiples have the
proper qualifications and wish to participate,
please contact these researchers directly for
further details concerning their
studies.
This
form is to be filled out by a parent of multiples
and will be used to enter information about
you and your multiples into a CONFIDENTIAL,
computerized data base maintained
by the National Organization of
Mothers of Twins Clubs, Inc. Complete this form
only once. If you have more than one set of
multiples, please fill out a separate form for
each set.
Updates
Needed! If you are a member who
filled out the Multiple Birth Data form
before 2000, the Research Department is
requesting for those NOMOTC members to take the
time to fill this form out again. This is due
to the fact that these files are not compatible
with the new system currently being used on
Survey Monkey. If there is a question on
when you filled
out this form,
please contact the Research Vice- President or
Chairman. Responses
to date: 2,191.
Les
animamos a miembros y también los que no son
miembros a ayudar NOMOTC a construir nuestra
base de datos con respecto a niños de parto
múltiple.
Thank
you to all who take a moment to participate in our
research surveys. The NOMOTC Research Department
appreciates and acknowledges your commitment to
our organization, the research community and the
public.
If
you have any ideas for future research survey
topics, please contact the Research Vice President or the
Research Chairman.
Feel
free to copy and paste any information on surveys
or research for your
members. |

NOMOTC's
Nominating Committee
by Trish Michalkowski,
Nominating Chairman
The Nominating Committee
would like to take this opportunity to
congratulate the elected Board of Directors and
all of the National Workers appointed at the 2011
NOMOTC National Convention held in Chicago.
We are all excited and thrilled that this year's
board members and workers will work hard for the
members of NOMOTC and bring new programs and
information throughout the year.
The Nominating Committee
this year is made up of a very diverse group of
women. I am honored to have been elected as your
Nominating Chairman. I look forward to working
with the committee and Advisor on creating a slate
to bring to the membership at the 2012 NOMOTC
Convention, as well as other projects throughout
the year. You will be hearing from us all year
regarding completing an Elected Executive
Committee Resume (EECR), which is due January 15,
2012, or a National Worker Volunteer form, so keep
your eyes on the mailings, NOMOTC's
Notebook and Multiple
Messages.
The members of the
2011-2012 Nominating Committee are Kim England,
Christy Helvajian, Donna Miller, Linda Payne, and
Gwen Shogren. It truly is a privilege to be
working with each of these ladies. These members
have been volunteering for this organization for
quite a long time and will continue doing so by
bringing their expertise to this
committee.
So for now, please think
about what NOMOTC has done for you and how you can
give back to this organization. The best thing you
can do is to volunteer. Forms are available
online in the Members Only section of NOMOTC's NOMOTC's website or you
can e-mail me. Thank
you. | | |
